Kids on the Block Grade 3

The Kids on the Block Puppets will be visiting our 3rd grade classrooms again this year to talk about disability awareness. The puppet shows teach students about different disabilities that students in their school may be experiencing and how they are just like the on the the inside with all of the same feelings. It also provides an opportunity for students to ask any questions may have about specific disabilities in a comfortable setting in order to gain a better understanding of students with disabilities.

Kids On The Block Grade 1

First grade students see a series of 3 puppet shows that teach them about the 4 types of child abuse and teach them ways that they can keep themselves safe. Students learn how to say, "No" and get help if they are in an unsafe situation. They also learn the 3 stranger danger rules. This presentation usually  takes place in January or February.

Girls Group Celebration

The Girls Group Celebration takes place in the spring following a group that meets with all 4th grade girls in the winter. 4th grade girls that completed the group with Mrs. Righi had an opportunity to attend 3 out of 5 offered workshops. Some of the choices that have been available in previous years inclue: Scrapbooking, Cooking, Pilates, Cake Decorating, Double Dutch Jump Roper, Nail Care, or a Mary Kay Skin care lesson.  The girls attended 3 thirty minute workshops throughout the building based on their preassigned schedules.

Who Do You Tell

This is another opportunity to remind students about how to stay safe and get help if they are in an unsafe situation. The presenter reviews the 4 types of child abuse and also talks about the many people in their family, neighborhood, and school that they can go to for help if they are in an unsafe situation. The purpose of this presentation is to help children learn how to recognize when they are in an unsafe situation and how to get help.
